For the second year in a row I will run the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco, CA! This marathon is by lottery only or for Team in Training participants. Last year I found out about my acceptance in April, got married in June, and ran my first marathon in October! It was a year of BIG events! I am excited to be running the race this year under my married name. In Union Square in San Francisco the NIKE store posts every participants name on a large wall. It is amazing to see your name posted on the wall in the company of so many other strong and brave runners. I guess with a new last name, I figured I had to run the race at least one more time (if not for the name, than maybe for the Tiffany's necklace at the end?!). Just kidding...
In all seriousness, my first marathon was one of the most amazing things I have ever accomplished. It taught me to test the limits of my body and mind. The marathon also showed me how much support I have in family and friends. Even though running is an individual sport, I could feel all of my supporters with me on good runs and tough runs, as well as on race day.
When the marathon was over, I wanted to be sure and sign-up for another one, quickly, so that years didn't go by in between races. Well, in about 15 weeks, it will be race day again... Here I go again, on that wonderful journey that is: The Marathon!
